Mount Rainier 2
Rainier dominates the Seattle skyline, and at more than 14,000 feet is the second-tallest mountain in the lower 48 states next to Mt. Whitney in California. It also has the largest glaciers between Canada and the Andes, though they have been shrinking in recent years. Mountaineers consider Rainier one of the most difficult ascents of a mountain not at extreme altitude. People regularly die in the attempt.
