Peter Max Art Viewing
Legendary artist Peter Max came to DC for two Northern Virginia viewings on Saturday April 18, 2009.

I attended the viewing at The Wentworth Gallery, located in the Pentagon City Fashion Court, Arlington, Virginia.

Adhering to the wishes of the gallery operator and Peter's personal representative, I did not take photos inside the gallery, however these two photos taken outside the gallery offer a flavor of the event. If one looks hard (cluster of balloons), through the gallery window, Peter can be seen engaging in conversation with art patrons.

I found Mr. Max to be very nice, approachable, and willing to take time to discuss his art and answer most any other question. He even signed a lovely art ensconced event brochure, which the other images here are of.

Though I knew he was a 1960's art world (and pop) phenomenon, for his escapist, some might say psychedelic works (many a clothing designer, artist, and black light poster creator was influenced), I was not aware that according to the brochure handed out at the event "Max was named an official artist of the 2006 U.S. Olympic Team at the Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy. He has also been Official Artist of 5 Super Bowls, World Cup USA, The World Series, The U.S. Open, The Indy 500, The NYC Marathon and The Kentucky Derby. "

There was a very full selection of his works on display, and this being a viewing -- they were of course for purchase.

I am glad I had the chance to take in the work of Peter Max, and meet an artist that is not only talented, but has historical significance too.
