Amphawa is lot less commercialized than Damuen Saduek

I was happy to note that the Amphawa floating market is quiet, but was frankly disappointed that it was this empty! From this fantastic vantage point, I has half expecting to see boats full of colour and fresh produce, all freshly arrived early in the morning. In fact, Damnoen Saduak, the other large floating market is said to be busiest between 06:00 and 08:00. I learned later that Amphawa is slightly different, as it comes to life only after 14:00. It is more of a foodie destination. Visitors here can also take one of the many long tail boats and explore the surrounding canals and rivers. Though not quite busy or impressive as Bangkok's canals (klongs), the rural vibe of the canals around Amphawa are said to be very interesting, and the cool breeze from the boar ride after the heat of the market is a welcome relief. Sadly, I did not know all this at the time of my visit and all I could see was this empty floating market. (Amphawa Floating Market, Thailand, Oct. 2018)
