Nikon D800E Noise Reduction Tests
Noise tests for Nikon D800E at various ISOs.

These tests were performed using the current versions of Adobe Photoshop CC, Nik define2, Nikon ViewNX 2, and DxO Optics Pro 9, as of February 12, 2014.

Each of these images has its own set of comments, which you can find by clicking on the image.

The first tests were of a standard scene, part of our DVD collection, shot at various ISO values. The lens was a Nikon 24-120 f/4, set at 38 mm and f/8. The camera was mounted on a tripod and a wireless remote was used to actuate the shutter.

Some of the products perform various manipulations to the image data on import. To the extent that I could, I disabled these operations.

The original files out of camera were 14-bit compressed RAW (Nef) files. The camera setting for High ISO Noise Reduction was "medium".
