Bus stop

I posted an Instagram phone image of the back of this bench: this image explains the point I was making. The land to the right of the sidewalk is private - an apartment rental complex. So the benches cannot be located on that side of the sidewalk. So they have been placed on the "boulevard" the gravel surfaced space between sidewalk and roadway. In fact the benches meet on the concrete top of the drainage gulley.

You can also see that this is what Charles Marohn derides as a "stroad" - an unhappy amalgam of street and road, serving both functions suboptimally. Posted speeds are, of course, treated contemptuously by most drivers. So people sitting waiting for a bus - with no shelter at all - and within inches of speeding cars and trucks.
