Mother and Baby Orangutan
A mother Orangutan (Pongo pygmaeus) and her baby at the Sepilok Rehabilitation Centre, near Sandakan, Sabah. The centre rehabilitates orphaned and injured orangutans and prepares them for eventual release into the wild. The centre is not fenced off, and individuals can leave the centre and roam throughout the adjacent 42 square kilometres of primary and secondary forest. This mother has returned to one of the feeding platforms to supplement her diet.
