Roosevelt Island Smallpox Hospital
This weekend my roommates Aileen, Isuru, Saha, and I went on an adventure to explore Roosevelt Island and its abandoned smallpox hospital.
It was built in the 1850s in Gothic style and abandoned a century later. It's now a beautiful, overgrown, crumbling castle-like ruin. Surrounded by a fence, and off-limits.
Crumbling ruins are something you rarely see in this country, even rarer in New York City!
Isuru's got some great pics of it.
