it's so easy to leave me

all alone with my memory

if you touch me

The summer-flower has run to seed,

And yellow is the woodland bough;

And every leaf of bush and weed

Is tiped with autumn’s pencil now.

And I do love the varied hue,

And I do love the browning plain;

And I do love each scene to view,

That’s mark’d with beauties of her reign.

A russet red the hazels gain,

As suited to their drear decline;

While maples brightest dress retain,

And in the gayest yellows shine.

Beneath a yellow fading tree,

As red suns light thee, Autumn-morn,

In wildest rapture let me see

The sweets that most thy charms adorn.

Just a few days ago I found this photo again, which made me very happy, for three reasons:

- It is the first origami tessellation I folded many years ago

- I don't have it anymore because my former cat liked to eat paper and destroyed it…….

- it is the one and only photo of it…..

St. John's wort ready for drying

My strongest memories are of my grandmother. In addition to bearing her name, I also have many of her qualities and her loves. From her I learned to love flowers and birds, to cook and make wonderful sweets. She taught me how to dry herbs. This is my favorite picture because whenever I look at it I can even feel the atmosphere and smell of that herb as she prepares it for drying. The light in the picture is exactly what I remember, a constant play of light and darkness, because her house was surrounded by large trees, so the sun was breaking through the branches. As a background, I used the door from her kitchen cupboard and the plate from her garden table. Yes, I loved her very much and I miss her very much but I am happy that she knew I loved her.

HSoS!

I have a special place in my house where my mother's sewing machine is. There's a picture of her over the sewing machine.

I also kept the glasses and her diploma.

Smile on Saturday.

Full of Memories.

Memories are part of our own being,as if interpolated with the GNA we carrie and 'procreate'.....Sometimes we have mixed feelings and 'good and bad' memories of someone or something, but they still remain a big part of our life and we forever are entangled and 'stunned' by the moments in our time of our own universe....

Memories keep us sane...Even those that can cause a great pain become a part of who we really are....In the end we will all be barely remembered, except for the echo of our souls which forever sing the melody of the star dust we once were and again will be.....b.mikich

A journey through France-Alsace

of the warm and intense sun....

Shed a tear for those who are no longer with us..

we must carry on, be strong, safe and keep well...

Hear what I hear

Here's to the ones that we got

Cheers to the wish you were here, but you're not

'Cause the drinks bring back all the memories

Of everything we've been through

Toast to the ones here today

Toast to the ones that we lost on the way

'Cause the drinks bring back all the memories

And the memories bring back, memories bring back you

There's a time that I remember, when I did not know no pain

When I believed in forever, and everything would stay the same

Now my heart feel like December when somebody say your name

'Cause I can't reach out to call you, but I know I will one day, yeah

Everybody hurts sometimes

Everybody hurts someday, ayy ayy

But everything gon' be alright

Go and raise a glass and say, ayy

Here's to the ones that we got

Cheers to the wish you were here, but you're not

'Cause the drinks bring back all the memories

Of everything we've been through

Toast to the ones here today

Toast to the ones that we lost on the way

'Cause the drinks bring back all the memories

And the memories bring back, memories bring back you

Memories are precious - I remember my granddaughter at this age holding her Bassett Hound, Fred. I "painted" a photo shared over the miles by my daughter several years ago. Now my granddaughter is a young woman studying and achieving her dreams.

I had a really nice sunset picture that needed something more, So I transplanted this picture of an old run down building. I copied it long ago off of Google Earth in Siberia. I've searched many times since, and can not find this building anywhere on the internet. But it's probably there in "real life" in the sunset with all it's memories.

Hello my amazing Flickr friends !

Today is a pink or purple day at Color my World Daily and the theme at Smile on Saturday is « full of memories ».

When I was about 9 years old, we moved from Poland to Algeria. My Dad was working there. As a little girl I missed my grandmother very, very much. Back then there was no internet and even telephone wasn’t a very efficient way of keeping contact between Poland and Algeria. So , for several weeks I was saving my lunch money to buy a gift for my grandmother. I got her this tiny necklace. I went to this flea market and I bargained with the seller until we both reach an acceptable price. And the necklace was mine.It is called « hamsa » (it means five) and it is a very, very popular amulet in Middle East. Hamsa is supposed to bring you good fortune and protect the bearer from the « evil eye ». It was a perfect gift for my grandmother, so far away from me… This amulet was supposed to protect her from anything bad. And it did !! My grandmother was always wearing this necklace. For years. The last time I saw her, she had her necklace with her. She told me that the necklace was reminding her of me and our family so far away but so close in her heart…. The necklace traveled with her, through Europe, Russia and almost to Japan. When she died, peacefully in her sleep wearing her necklace near her heart, she was at peace. At one point, I got my necklace back. It went from Algeria to Poland, from Poland all around the glob and then back to Montreal, Canada. Since then, I always keep it with me… I truly believe it will protect me from anything bad…and each time I touch it, it brings an amazing amount of very good memories.

And if you want to know more about « hamsa », here is the link : en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hamsa

Mucho, mucho amor for you all !! Have a beautiful day and see you later!!

Thank you so much for all your lovely comments / favs/ general support / happy thoughts!! Stay safe and well!! And see you soon on Flickr !!

Memory

Midnight, not a sound from the pavement

Has the moon lost her memory?

She is smiling alone

In the lamplight, the withered leaves collect at my feet

And the wind begins to moan

Memory, all alone in the moonlight

I can dream of the old days

Life was beautiful then

I remember the time I knew what happiness was

Let the memory live again

Every street lamp seems to beat

A fatalistic warning

Someone mutters and the street lamp sputters

And soon it will be morning

Daylight, I must wait for the sunrise

I must think of a new life

And I mustn't give in

When the dawn comes, tonight will be a memory too

And a new day will begin

Burnt out ends of smoky days

The stale, cold smell of morning

A street lamp dies, another night is over

Another day is dawning

Touch me, it's so easy to leave me

All alone with the memory

Of my days in the sun

If you touch me, you'll understand what happiness is

Look, a new day has begun
