Andrew Ramey falls on North Fall Creek is the first main waterfall off the Fall Creek trail . It is so photogenic, with so much space for a diversity of compositions, one could easily spend a sizable amount of time down in here for photos. The way the lighting played out down here when I made this one, brought to mind a formal affair with champagne and caviar. This was my first hike here and since the sun was already beginning to rise in a cloudless sky, (and my not knowing what to expect), I was on the front burner to maintain pace. I once read where another photographer expressed that they had a love/hate relationship with the rock in the foreground. When I arrived and saw it, I just shot around it. I shared this photo to include it, just for the character of it. As for me, even though it does "stick out like a sore thumb", I felt like it belonged here with the waterfall...I considered it in the context of being a traditional fixture.

With a ultra casual backflip under blue skies and great spring conditions!

Andrew Caylor said he was going to hit this jump, so I skied down and got into position. I really didn’t know what he was going to do, but I sure was stoked to watch him fly by, making this backflip look so easy!

The Andrew Low House was built in 1848. Designed by NY architect John Morris. The house is Greek Revival w/ Italianate details. Its interior was considered to be the finest in all Savannah.

The cities unique grid system plan included all greenery and did not go unnoticed by nineteenth century journalists who constantly poked fun at it for leaving the lush greenery in the plan.

Peek-a-boo!

Several times in my 365, I have mentioned Andrew. The last was during FGR’s invasion of Funk. In that shot, I described, very briefly, what Andrew meant to me and to his friends growing up in Philadelphia. He was all of ours’ best friend. He died of a brain tumor just days after we all gathered at his house to watch the Phillies play Game 7 of the 1993 World Series. He had just turned thirty-one.

I came home several days ago to a box of pictures, sent by his parents, that Andrew had taken during the year after he learned that he had less than a year to live. To say that they are fantastic would be an understatement.

I have now written and rewritten almost two dozen paragraphs about Andrew, who he was, and what he meant to me. And, each time, my words cannot measure up. And, so, I am not going to write anything. He just was. My son’s middle name is Andrew.

After receiving the box, I have struggled with whether or not to include Andrew in my 365. Ultimately, I was convinced that he would have laughed at what we do in FGR. One of his shots is perfect for today. So. Peek-a-boo. He laughed and played when most of us could not.

It's a little lame, but I think of him every time I hear this

because of the mis-alignment of Flickr's 24-hour day with the start and end of Polaroid Week, i get to squeak one more image in! and have to round up with yet another portrait from our fantastic pola-walk from July -- so wonderful to meet Andrew & his family visiting from the UK!

have a great weekend, everyone! i'll spend a good chunk of mine catching up on the last two days of Polaroid Week, as work got unexpectedly hectic yesterday and today -- so much pola-goodness to look forward to!

First hike with the R5 today, and Andrew Ramey had the designation of being the first subject. Quite a stunner in a fantastic little setting. -H3

The highlight of a quick but fun trip to Nashville was having dinner with Jordana, a few friends, and this guy Andrew Zimmern. Andrew is a chef, tv host, and an all around good guy. We ate at City House which was an exceptional meal that I highly recommend to anyone headed to that city.

The Andrew W. Mellon Memorial Fountain is a bronze fountain sculpture by Sidney Waugh as a memorial to Andrew W. Mellon. It is located in Washington D.C., United States, just north of the National Gallery of Art, at Pennsylvania Avenue, Constitution Avenue, and 6th Street NW. The fountain is maintained by the Department of the Interior and was dedicated on May 9, 1952, by Harry S. Truman

Andrew was on the southeast corner of Chestnut and Michigan Avenue. "I've been homeless for a long time", he said. At the moment he's either sleeping on the train or on the street. "I'm holding on to strings...but I'm gonna make a cloth", he said. "I'm not a complainer". He was just a positive person to talk to, flashing a smile every now and then. "Every little thing is a blessing...everyone who helps is an angel..."

Andrew sat on the southeast corner of Monroe and Dearborn. He's been out here for four months. "Yesterday I was out here for four hours and nobody talked to me." He said the last week has been really flat (money-wise). "But even more than resources is interaction--I just want people to see me." The hardest thing for Andrew being out here is "finding a place to go to the bathroom" (as most stores and restaurants are off-limits). When he can, sometimes Andrew will stay in the (cheap) men's hotel nearby. But usually he sleeps outside. "It's brutal out here..."
