Long exposures are quickly becoming a favored landscape method in my toolbox. Very little was done in post, only a bit of NR and curves and a short stop in ACR for the clarity slider.

Handy tip: 16-bit tiffs can be edited in Adobe ACR. I really dig the vibrance and clarity sliders offered in ACR (Adobe Camera RAW), highly recommend! No vibrancy on this one, but it's nice for when you need it. I did use a soft 2-stop ND Grad on this.

And if you miss your old flickr home page, good news! Thank You Makeupanid for pointing out that Steffen J. created a Greasemonkey script that makes the new Home Page like the old Home Page. And another one even more like the old Page-thanks to kiwi_kirsch!

The top view is of the Flickr tag cloud, alphabetized using this script:

serprest.pt/Greasemonkey/flickr/flickrSortTagsAndGroups2....

The bottom view is Flickr's default display, which makes little sense to me. If you're going to make them a cloud instead of a list, they should at least be alphabetized.

I hate that purple Yahoo toolbar above the header menu so I wrote two lines of CSS to remove it and packaged it up as a Userscript (for use with Greasemonkey and Tampermonkey). You can install the Userscript here: monkeyguts.com/code.php?nav=descr&id=662.

This classic Mustang Fastback seems having some troubles and the grease monkeys are going to fix it in a few minutes. It'll be back in great shape as Ford built it.

This little diorama is my second entry for LEGO Ideas contest Celebrate your favorite ford mustang in a beautiful scenery!

It features all the stuff you'd expecetd to find in a busy shop: a roller cabinet, a workbench with wrenches and vise, the pendant lights, the column drill press, air compressor, and a lot more. There are also and helmets all around. The Star Spangled Banner is proudly hanged on the wall.

Thanks for stopping by.

.can I stay here with you.

Listen.

Can I stay here with you through the night time

And I need a place to hide

Can I stay here with you through the nighttime

I’m all alone and blue

Won’t you take me to your room

Ray Lamontagne -- so, so awesome. I've been lucky enough to see him in concert a couple of times. I love him :) His voice is both gritty and smooth, if that's possible. He's wonderful... I have all four of his albums (three solo, and the newest with his new band), but the album that this song is from, "Till the Sun Turns Black," is my favorite. It's one of those albums you play over and over and never get tired of.

Also, I've gotten a few emails from people saying they can't comment on my pics anymore -- I am not sure what occured, but a combination of me changing my Flickr settings and bombing my contact list with a Greasemonkey script that I think went haywire -- it looks like I lost a lot of contacts and who knows what else occured. All this to say, add me as a contact if you'd like to :)

News:

Updated the script to v0.2 (20090125) which adds option to display in the sidebar instead and smartly ignores photos you've already favorited "recently". See this screenshot.

About:

My second greasemonkey script, a quick re-write/adaptation of this very useful one by Simon Whitaker (Thanks Simon!), but with the lens focused in on The Commons.

Now that I have had a chance to deal with the Flickr API within a script, hold on to your hats. More useful Commons scripts to come hopefully.

The Armington and Sims Machine Shop at Greenfield Village. In the late 19th and early 20th Centuries machine parts were made and repaired in shops such as these. The shop repairs all of Greenfield Village's machinery to this day. The boy in blue is making a metal part with help from the staff. Cleaning the machines was a dirty business which was carried out by the youngest workers. They were called, "Grease Monkeys." www.hmdb.org/marker.asp?marker=78780

NOTE: If you use FireFox and haven't yet upgraded to 4.0, you should do it now. Runs quite a bit faster, and Mozilla seems to have 'plugged' some of the memory leaks that slow it down after it has been running for extended periods. GreaseMonkey scripts continue to function normally.)

If you use #1. Firefox www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/ browser... you can add this cool stuff to make Flickr more fun via #2. Greasemonkey (add this after you download Firefox addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/748) add-ons. Then you can add any or all of these add-ons :) Have fun! #3. digital-photography-school.com/blog/10-really-useful-flic...

I had some of these before, but in the course of looking for something yesterday, I found these as well. I tried most of them out...and really like them, so thought I would put the links here. I always hate trying to find this stuff. It has a cool slide bar that you can make pics appear on a solid black or solid white background, or any color grey between just by using a slide bar to the left of each photo. The AUTO PAGE is super handy! Lots of toys!

Since I have had a couple FM's about this...let me clarify. :D You need to install FIREFOX browser (basic) AND GREASEMONKEY first...BEFORE you can go to the last link #3 ADDONS... They describe each of the 10 addons...so if you think it is something you would use then download it. It's very easy, and the nice thing is, if you do not use or like it, you can simply uncheck it by the little "monkey face" in the corner of your screen and disable any items you do not like.

...if it's not broke, don't fix it!

DON'T LIKE IT??? LET flickr KNOW IT...

I recently put together a conceptual shoot in our garage. Being in lock down has deprived me of all paid photographic work until the restrictions have been lifted by our government. In the meantime I'll be putting together concepts to get more content for my portfolio.

Yesterday I went to Kew Gardens to have a last glimpse of my (yes, MY painting at the Shirley Sherwood Gallery. The exhibition is titled as "Inner Beauty?" and about 40 paintings of medicinal plants by Chelsea Physic Garden Florilegium Society have been exhibited there since November. It will end tomorrow.

Then what will happen next?

This exhibition will go to New York!!! Wow! I haven't been to New York yet, so I might go there!

If and when I go there, I would like to see my Flickr friends who live in New York! I will let you know!

Male Common Darter (Sympetrum striolatum)

As it's name suggests this dragonfly is very abundant in England. It breeds in still water, even stagnant ponds, and can be seen well into November.

This fellow decided to stake out my garden pond for the day :)

I like this photograph as I rarely find British dragonflies in this near obelisk pose. He never did quite manage the full pose.

Thank you for your kind comments, faves and invites. Your visit to my photostream is very much appreciated.

Wishing you a wonderful Sunday :)

If you have a slow internet connection or just want to remove Flickr's new justified view and endless pages, here is a script my friend, Carol (Tumbleweed) gave me. It has to be installed, but only if you use Firefox, or Chrome and use Greasemonkey:

userscripts.org/scripts/show/174999

www.paulwheelerphotography.com

I recently put together a conceptual shoot in our garage. Being in lock down has deprived me of all paid photographic work until the restrictions have been lifted by our government. In the meantime I'll be putting together concepts to get more content for my portfolio.

Are you lately getting far less visits than usual? Some of your faithful contacts seem to ignore you these days? If so, welcome to the club! You surely are being affected by an annoying Flickr bug that makes last people's pictures not appear on your contacts list. You can read more here.

If you use Firefox you can install a useful Greasemonkey script that will show you when a picture appearing on the contacts list is outdated (it's not the last one from that contact). You can find the script here.

It seems Flickr staff is working hard on it, and a solution should see the light soon. But, meanwhile, we will have to live with it...

BTW, does anyone know what's the name of the bug appearing on the photo? ;)) (EDITED: solved here: Lachnaia pubescens.) (EDITED2: it seems it's not Lachnaia pubescens but Mylabris quadripunctata)

Feb 28 UPDATE!!: the bug seems to have worsened and now the whole contacts system is disabled. Read here.

Please, consider also viewing some of my most interesting shots according to Flickr!
