In 1972, the SMA class entered Green Line service on South Orbital route 725. These 21 Swifts had 36" 1' Alexander bodywork of an attractive appearance, from the inside too, with ramped floor and deep panoramic side windows for superb vision. Ordered by South Wales Transport as buses, they were diverted to London Country, who were in time to arrange for them to be equipped to coach specification instead.
