O MAAT – Museu de Arte, Arquitetura e Tecnologia é a peça central da área de 38 mil metros quadrados que a Fundação EDP ocupa na margem norte do rio Tejo. Aqui, a icónica central elétrica do início do séc. XX e o novo edifício, concebido pelo atelier londrino Amanda Levete Architects, convivem e oferecem uma programação cultural variada. A Central Tejo modernizou-se, mantendo a vocação para a ciência e energia mas continuando a receber exposições temporárias de arte contemporânea nas quatro galerias. O novo edifício contempla também quatro espaços expositivos num total de cerca de 3 mil metros quadrados.
Os dois edifícios são unidos por um jardim, pensado pelo arquiteto paisagista Vladimir Djurovic, que oferece um espaço exterior de excelência, com circulação livre, nesta zona ribeirinha da cidade de Lisboa.

This is from the end of the summer, during an evening walk with Matt and his fiancee Sophie. They are currently living with Tim, JJ and me, while they look for somewhere to live. If I haven't said before, Sophie has started a PhD in a city near here - Matt gave up his job in Rugby to be with her. It's not easy for them, and jobs are rather hard to find, but Matt starts a temp job today (engineering design, or something!) - hopefully it will be the start of some good luck for them.
Back to Chichester for a second trip in November, but this time with older son Matt. (Apologies if I put a few of him on Flickr - it's not often I have him to myself these days!!)

My friend Matt sent me this drawing of his I had admired, I love wht he's done to stylize the swimmer/diver and that he superimposed a off-kilter grid. Just up my alley.

Matt encountered James Bond while we were at the Hovercraft Museum. Some info below:
The James Bond film "Die Another Day" featured three hovercraft, two Osprey 5s and a Slingsby SAH 2200. One of each craft used in the film can be found on display here at the museum, alongside a multimedia presentation about the filming of the hovercraft chase.
