The tent fragment was found in a trash pit or ditch in the Roman fort at Bar Hill, Scotland (see Bar Hill on Pleiades and Roman-Empire dot net). The tent pegs were found at the site of a temporary camp south of Bar Hill.

Dated generally to the Antonine period, ca. 142-180 CE.
