In Greek mythology, the Daughters of Danaus (/dəˈneɪɪdiːz/; Greek: Δαναΐδες), also Danaids, Danaides or Danaïdes, were the fifty daughters of Danaus. They were to marry the fifty sons of Danaus's twin brother Aegyptus, a mythical king of Egypt. In the most common version of the myth, all but one of them killed their husbands on their wedding night, and are condemned to spend eternity carrying water in a sieve or perforated device.

This impressive bronze sculpture ("Leaf Spirit") was originally made for the Chelsea Flower Show (2017) and a year later moved to Kew Gardens, London. It has been photographed thousands of times and, I am sure, will be so in the future. The sculptor, Simon Gudgeon, used the idea of the imprint of leaves to make a connection between the human face and nature. If we take nature apart, we also destroy the human face. Something to think about. Ignore the date. This shot was done on the 10th of May 2021.
A few days of strong westerlies made for some interesting patterns in the sand. Fragments of seashells etc. acted as traps, causing these tiny sculptures on the beach.
It was rather challenging to shoot in the wind; I got thoroughly sandblasted while attempting it :)
