Always a thrill to watch Short-eared Owls and I was privileged to watch this individual hunting over some local moorland yesterday evening and catching a number of large-looking voles.
SEO coming in abit close, not great detail but still nice to get a shot so close. I think the AF struggled slightly.
A very pleasant couple of hours were spent in the company of Patrick Hawkins , Geoff Holland , and Simon Dibble at Steart this afternoon where this lovely SEO was giving us a right run around , eventually in the last throes of light we managed to get some half decent shots.
Short Eared Owl
Another somewhat distant shot from my visit to Berryhill Fields on Friday. It was some distance away from me here but it was great how it kept looking across to the other side of the field where I was standing, just to check that I was not getting any closer.
Sadly it didn't catch anything while I was watching and it moved on to a different field where I left it alone to hunt in peace.
Another fab evening on the estuary shooting birds of prey..

Large Crop - It doesn't matter how much I try, but unfortunately I cannot get a close fly-by from these guys at Portland. I was under a Cam Net and in a thorny bush for this shot, waiting and waiting till the last moment to fire the shutter but the bird always turned away. Clearly she heard the shutter on this burst, but it was getting late and the light was extremely low, so I had to give up yet again. So I'm off this afternoon to try again, probably my last chance before they migrate.
This was on a freezing cold afternoon in the Cambridgeshire Fens
Seeing as the weather was at last pleasant on my day off i thought id pop along to see the Steart SEOs and sure enough the pair were very active once again.
I thought the SEO had cleared off, having not seen it or heard any reports for a few days now. Good to see he's still about... Albeit miles away. :@)
Thank you all who fave and comment on my photo'/video's,much appreciated. And thank you all for looking.

These birds float effortlessly above the meadows in search of prey🐀
The only Seo i saw this morning but what a lovely bird , showing very well at times , it was hunting for over an hour in front of me but failed to catch anything.
Caught this SEO at Sandwich Bay near Dickson's corner this morning. It hadn't noticed me at this point, it was concentrating on something to eat... `it was raining too..
This male Shortie is a stunning example of a healthy hunter. He later caught a nice sized vole.
Thanks for looking.
Not the back drop I hoped for, but nice to get some shots of these awesome birds.
Another treat all in one day goes to show never leave home without a camera.
