Bin zur Zeit im indoor Makro-Modus. Zu kalt für draußen 😉

Antelope Canyon was formed by the erosion of Navajo Sandstone due to flash flooding and other sub-aerial processes. Rainwater runs into the extensive basin above the slot canyon sections, picking up speed and sand as it rushes into the narrow passageways. Over time the passageways eroded away, deepening the corridors and smoothing hard edges to form characteristic "flowing" shapes. (May 2019)

The photo was taken handhold: ISO640; f/2.8; 1/180s

Die berühmte gusseiserne Wendeltreppe im Jagdschloss Granitz auf der Insel Rügen. Leider war der Mittelturm gesperrt, es war nur die Sicht nach oben möglich.

The famous cast-iron spiral staircase in the Granitz hunting lodge on the island of Rügen.

Unfortunately the middle tower was closed, it was only possible to look up.

A small shell found on a holiday in South Africa. This shell is smaller than an euro coin. It seems to be the shell of a small squid species.

Crazy Tuesday - theme of November 3rd, 2020: Spiral

this is some fancy egg cup made of a metal spiral .... these egg cups are nice to look at, but impractical, because you can't put peeled egg shells into them ;))

Looks a bit like a Warp tunnel / hole, doesn't it ?

It would be nice to be able to get far far away with its help from time to time ...

HaPpY CrAzY Tuesday, everyone !

[I will be browsing properly later in the evening - due to work]

Crazy Tuesday - Thema am 3. September 2020: Spirale

... diese Eierbecher sind zwar schön anzusehen, aber irgendwie unpraktisch, da man nie weiß, wohin mit der abgepellten Eierschale ;))

Einen schönen Dienstag euch allen !

For Macro Mondays 'spiral'

It's got to be my favourite sort of spiral :) This is quite a crop - but I think that's allowed?

Found a red spiral in nature ;-)

The place where water runs through rocks, "spiral rock arches” by the Navajo nation. Lower antelope, whenever it rains, the tour would be cancelled due to lower underground level. Luckily booked two tours, one tour canceled due to rain. In 1997, 12 Hikers Are Swept Away By Flash Flood here. The Canyon renown for its narrow, twisting limestone walls became a trap for 12 hikers in 1997 when a flash flood filled it with a wall of water 11 feet high. The guide survived, battered and his clothes ripped off by the force of the water… All the rest missed or died…

"Antelope Canyon, with its meandering walls of sandstone, is a much-photographed natural wonder in Arizona. But on Aug. 12, 1997, it was the scene of a natural disaster.

Two groups of sightseers, 12 people in all, were on the sandy floor of the narrow slot canyon that summer afternoon. As they took pictures and soaked up the scenery, a summer storm dumped rain on the desert miles upstream.

As that water drained toward Lake Powell, it picked up rocks and debris. By the time it reached the twisting canyon, it was a head-high wall of debris, barreling toward the tourists.

Only one would survive the flood..."
