Buckey O'Neill Cabin

Buckey O'Neill Cabin in the Grand Canyon Village Historic District, a national landmark district (1890). O'Neill settled in Tombstone in 1880 and wrote for the ''Epitaph''. After a move to Prescott, he joined the Arizona Militia and was soon elected Yavapai County sheriff. He built this cabin on the South Rim in 1890; it is now the oldest structure there. O'Neill later joined the Rough Riders and died at the Battle of San Juan Hill in Cuba. After his death, the cabin was incorporated into the Bright Angel Lodge complex by the Fred Harvey Company.
