What Happened to all the Leaves?
Dexter reflects on how not all dead things are sad. The leaves may have left their post at the tips of trees but only after diligently having served their purpose.
Next year, new leaves will take their place on the trees, fed by the sacrifice of their parents.
In the meantime squirrels are afoot and though they have the speed advantage and the climbing advantage, Dexter can at least see where they live now.
