African Descent

The U.S., Brazilian, Colombian, Costa Rican, Djiboutian, Jamaican and African Union Missions to the United Nations in Geneva co-sponsored an event to mark the commencement of the Decade for People of African Descent. The evening featured traditional foods and music throughout the Americas, a panel discussion, and the feature film "Cartola." This event is just the beginning of a series of events to celebrate the diverse culture and contributions made by community members around the world of African descent.
