Conference on Disarmament

Ambassador Robert Wood, Permanent Representative of the United States to the Conference on Disarmament, delivered remarks at the CD Plenary, emphasizing the critical role nuclear deterrence has played in deterring aggression and preserving peace. He noted that, through the Nuclear Posture Review, the United States is taking steps to bolster nuclear deterrence and sustain a safe, secure, and effective arsenal, and assured that the total elimination of nuclear weapons remains an aspirational goal for the United States.
