A Visit to Proto-DUNE

A group from the U.S. Mission recently had a tour of Proto-DUNE, where a team is building a "scaled down” 8x8x8 meter prototype of an enormous particle detector that will eventually be hosted at a Department of Energy mega-science facility in the United States. DUNE, the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment, is a game-changing particle physics experiment, driven by the ingenuity and expertise of 1,000 scientists and engineers from 30 countries, which aims to transform our understanding of neutrinos and their role in the universe.
