To mark the International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust, the U.S. Mission co-hosted with the United Nations Offices in Geneva and the Israeli Mission to the UN a commemoration ceremony at the Palais des Nations. UNOG Director General Michael Møller and Israeli Ambassador Aviva Raz Schechter delivered remarks. Eva Schloss, Holocaust survivor and stepdaughter of Otto Frank, recounted her remarkable story, imploring the world to embrace tolerance and to prevent such an atrocity from ever happening again. The ceremony concluded with violin performances by two former laureates of the Menuhin Competition, 17-year-old Anne Luisa Kramb and 23-year-old Dmitry Smirnov, accompanied by pianist and artistic director Gordon Black.
