High Commissioner for Human Rights, Ms. Navanethem Pillay
The Permanent Mission of the United States of America, the Permanent Mission of South Africa, and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights hosted a screening of the movie Invictus, to observe the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. The theme for this year “Disqualify Racism” draws attention to the interface between racism and sport.
Brief introductory remarks were made by the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Ms. Navanethem Pillay, the Ambassador of South Africa Mr. Jerry Matthews Matjila and the Ambassador of the United States of America, Ms. Betty E. King.
