U.S. Mission Hosts Geneva Peace Week Event on Conflict and Stabilization

U.S. Mission Geneva and the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Conflict and Stabilization Operations (CSO) co-hosted an event during Geneva Peace Week 2019 on “Stabilizing Conflict: Best Practices, Challenges, and New Approaches.” Nearly 100 attendees listened to experts discuss contemporary approaches to stabilization, including challenges and best practices, and the nexus between stabilization, humanitarian, and development agendas. Panelists included Senior Advisor for CSO Eythan Sontag, President of Interpeace Scott Weber, and the Head of the EU Division for the Integrated Approach to Security and Peace Madeleine Majorenko. Jason Aplon, Peacebuilding and Post-Conflict Advisor for the International Organization for Migration, moderated the event. U.S. Mission Geneva’s Chargé d’affaires Mark Cassayre delivered welcome remarks, noting the timeliness and importance of this conversation in a world so greatly impacted by violent conflict.
