Press Conference on US Commitment in Syria Humanitarian Forum
Nancy Lindborg, USAID Assistant Administrator, and Kelly Clements, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration spoke to press after the Syria Humanitarian Forum to focus on U.S. support to Syrian humanitarian relief operations. The U.S. announced an additional $19 million in humanitarian assistance, bringing the total to nearly $385 million. Assistant Administrator Lindborg also stressed that the U.S. will continue to work through all channels to deliver aid effectively, regardless of political affiliation, and that providing effective assistance to those in greatest need requires consistent, secure access. The U.S. affirmed its commitment to helping alleviate the suffering of the Syrian people.
