Opening Session of the 2013 NPT Preparatory Committee

The Second Session of the Preparatory Committee to the 2015 Review Conference of the States Parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT Prepcom) opened at the United Nations in Geneva on April 22, 2013. In the General Debate on the opening day of the conference Thomas Countryman, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for International Security and Non-Proliferation and head of the U.S. Delegation to the NPT Prepcom, made the following general statement on behalf of the United States.
