Under Secretary Wendy Sherman Arrives at UN Geneva for Syria Talks

Wendy Sherman, Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, arrives at the United Nations in Geneva for talks with Russia and the United Nations to take stock of our efforts to prepare for the Geneva conference on Syria. As laid out in the Geneva Communiqué, a transitional government achieved through negotiations is the only way to end the bloodshed in Syria, respond to the humanitarian crisis in Syria and affecting neighboring countries, counter violent extremist groups, address the issue of chemical weapons, and forestall regional instability. The United States is proceeding with preparations for the Geneva conference on Syria, but it is not going to put a timeline on this.
