Ambassador Holgate's Visit to the IAEA's Nuclear Applications Laboratories

Ambassador Holgate examines the Tsetse flies feeding at the Insect Pest Control (IPC) Laboratory at the IAEA's Nuclear Applications Laboratories in Seibersdorf, Austria. With the IPC's Sterile Insect Technique (SIT), wild female insects of the pest population do not reproduce when they are inseminated by released, radiation-sterilized males. This technique can be used on Tsetse flies which carry sleeping sickness.
