PNNL is part of the US Network of Analytical Laboratories (NWAL) which support the IAEA in their analysis of samples collected by inspectors. The photos are of a chemical laboratory that is part of the bulk environmental swipe sample analysis that PNNL provides within their role as an NWAL participant. The laboratory is where the swipes are processed and characterized in preparation for the final, high precision measurements.
